Our First Grant Recipient: Kali Diston Jones
Thanks to our Art Collection members for casting your vote in our first granting round. We're over the moon to announce the collective efforts of £1 a week has led us to be able to make this microgrant to our first recipient. Well done everyone!
We are delighted to announce the recipient of our first ever Art Collection Liverpool grant:
Kali Diston Jones: Musician
Whether smashing the drums for Liverpool group Monks, writing songs for various purposes, or working on numerous musical projects, 20-year-old Kali Diston-Jones radiates versatility as musician. With extensive experience of performing in venues across the country and recording music with producers such as Ross Orton (Arctic Monkeys/The Vaccines) and Robert Whiteley (The Night Café), he enjoys working collaboratively but can work independently. Kali is also currently attending The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA), studying Music.
Our nominator said: "I’d like to nominate him for the art collection because he’s worked at music all his life, been in bands since the age of 13, and navigating the creation of music through lockdown has been difficult. I know this grant would make a huge difference to him, enabling him to buy vital equipment for creation, and more importantly it’s a vote of confidence and a big up from his fellow artistic community."
